Bio-Electromagnetic Analysis
EMSS has significant experience in the modelling of radiation exposure levels for health and safety applications. FEKO is ideally suited to the modelling of a wide range of environments where humans are exposed to radiation and with in-depth local knowledge of FEKO's abilities EMSS is the ideal partner for radiation exposure simulation work.
Examples of work that have been done by EMSS are:
- TETRA simulations with hand-held and vehicle mounted radios transmitting in
various positions on and around phantoms. Peak SAR and E-field
voltage levels were computed, reported and compared to the applicable ICNIRP
guidelines. All models were generated by EMSS from CAD data
supplied by our client. More detail...
- HF and VHF antenna analysis for the establishment of safe zones on naval vessels. Detailed antenna modelling on electromagnetically large structures were simulated to determine field strengths and recommend safe operating procedures for personnel who work in close proximity to these antennas.

- GSM and higher frequency analysis in automobile environments.
A wide variety of antennas involved in personal communication devices
were modelled in order to compute field magnitudes in luxury
automobiles. Recommendations resulting from this work include the
placement of antennas in vehicles and acceptable power transmission
levels.

- Wireless LAN exposure levels from the use of notebook computers
were characterized with numerical investigations.

- GSM base station exposure levels. The effect of human proximity on antenna characteristics and exposure levels for the human were investigated numerically and confirmed by measurements.
